CL100DZ delivers fast and efficient cleaning, without the cord

OCTOBER 15, 2009 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, is proud to announce the release of its new 10.8V Ultra-Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless Vacuum (CL100DZ, tool only). The new CL100DZ is the latest addition to Makita’s line of cordless tools powered by the 10.8V Ultra-Compact Lithium-Ion Battery. It combines the convenience of cordless with the superior power-to-weight ratio of Makita’s Lithium-Ion battery technology.
“Makita’s cordless solutions powered by our 10.8V Lithium-Ion battery deliver performance in an ultra-compact size” said Ethan Haughawout, associate product manager – cordless products. “The new CL100DZ vacuum is another cordless solution powered by our 10.8V Lithium-Ion battery, and it’s ideal for dry clean-up applications. It’s a perfect add-on for any pro using our ultra-compact driver-drill or impact driver.”
This compact yet powerful cordless vacuum has strong suction power for fast and efficient clearing – with or without the floor nozzle extension. At just 17-7/8” in length, the ultra-compact and lightweight design provides extra comfort with reduced operator fatigue, and the angled design provides strong suction for fast and efficient cleaning. The floor extension and redesigned swivel floor nozzle attaches easily, and includes a crevice nozzle for improved cleaning in tight spaces.
The CL100DZ delivers up to 12 minutes of continuous use from a single fully charged 10.8V Ultra-Compact Lithium-Ion battery. The bagless 2-stage cloth filtration system allows for easier cleaning and quicker debris disposal. The CL100DZ weighs just 1.9 lbs. (with battery, sold separately), with an ergonomic grip handle that provides increased comfort on the job.
The CL100DZ is powered by Makita’s 10.8V Ultra-Compact Lithium-Ion battery. This versatile cordless vacuum is engineered for almost any dry clean-up application, and is ideal for service, finish installation, maintenance, and janitorial trades.

Makita’s Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Series
As one of the pioneers driving the cordless tool revolution, Makita changed the game with its breakthrough 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Series. Four years after its debut, Makita’s LXT Series has grown from seven to over 35 tools, providing a wide range of cordless solutions for professional tradesmen. Makita also added 18V Compact Lithium-Ion for cordless power in a more compact size.
Makita\'s 18V Lithium-Ion batteries and ENERGY STAR rated Rapid Optimum Charger provide several benefits over old battery technology. When compared to traditional 18V Ni-Cd batteries, Makita’s 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have 40% less weight, longer run time, and five-times lower self-discharge to keep cells active and ready to use at any time. Makita’s 18V Lithium-Ion battery delivers 2,000 cycles – two-and-a-half times more than Ni-Cd. In addition, built-in shock absorbing features help protect the battery, and sixteen firm-holding contact terminals deliver constant high power. During the charging process, a built-in memory chip in the battery communicates with the Optimum Charger for a more efficient charge, extending the battery life. Makita’s Optimum Charger is also faster: it will charge an 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery in just 30 minutes and an 18V Compact Lithium-Ion battery in only 15 minutes.
Makita also offers an Optimum Automotive Charger for 18V LXT and 18V Compact Lithium-Ion batteries, which plugs into 12V DC sockets equipped in most automobiles and trucks for added mobility.
Makita’s growing line of LXT cordless tool solutions features a wide range of industrial-quality power tools, including driver-drills, impact drivers, impact wrenches, saws, grinders, screwguns, rotary hammers, and more. The LXT Series also offers a jobsite radio, rechargeable flashlights, and several different combo kits.
Makita now offers 10.8V Ultra-Compact Lithium-Ion and 7.2V Lithium-Ion cordless power tools. These cordless tools deliver pro power and pro speed in an ultra-compact size. The battery chargers for the 10.8V and 7.2V Lithium-Ion batteries are ENERGY STAR rated for their efficient charging performance. Makita’s growing line of ultra-compact cordless tool solutions includes driver-drills and impact drivers, as well as rechargeable flashlights and several different combo kits. Makita also offers a 36V Lithium-Ion cordless rotary hammer for faster drilling.
