New dust extraction solutions engineered to meet growing demand for dust containment

La Mirada, CA    Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, has released two new dust extraction solutions for concrete and masonry contractors: the 7" Dust Shroud (195386-6), and SDS-MAX Hammer Attachment (196074-8).

The new Dust Xtraction Kit (196074-8) includes drilling and demolition boots, replaceable nozzle tips, depth gauge extensions, and a vibration-absorbing handle.

"Dust management is clearly on the mind of the pro contractor, and there is a growing demand for solutions to reduce the amount of concrete dust on jobsites," said Adam Livingston, Product Manager, Commercial Products. "Makita is an innovator in the category and we have already delivered dust collection accessories for use on rotary hammers and grinders. These are the latest in our expanding line-up of dust management solutions."
New 7" Dust Shroud (195386-6)
The new 7" Dust Shroud is engineered for improved dust containment while operating Makita 7" and 9" grinders. A key point of difference from competitor shrouds is the 3-spring suspension system that keeps the shroud flush with the surface during movement and compensates for cup-wheel wear. The soft brushes are engineered to prevent dust from escaping, and help move the tool more easily over the surface. An added convenience feature is the removable edge piece, which allows for surface work flush to other objects.
The guard has a direct-connection dust port (outer diameter: 1-7/16") for use with most commercial vacuum hoses. The 7" Dust Shroud is ideal for concrete finishing and planing, paint or surface coating removal, blending concrete seams, and "rain outs" (removing "dead" concrete from surfaces after rain).
New Dust Xtraction Hammer Attachment (196074-8)
The new Dust Xtraction attachment is engineered to reduce the dust created from concrete drilling and demolition applications. The attachment fits Makita rotary and demolition hammers that accept SDS-MAX bits. Model 196074-8 is a kit and includes:
  • 2-piece drilling boot and depth rod extensions, for use with bits up to 24"L overall length
  • 2-piece demolition boot
  • Vibration-absorbing handle: engineered for increased comfort on the job
  • Replaceable nozzle tips to help protect boot from excessive wear
  • Durable blow molded plastic carry case for easy storage and transpor
