THIS OLD HOUSE RATES MAKITA 18V THREE-SPEED IMPACT DRIVER AS BEST

This Old House Magazine recently rounded up five selectable-speed impact drivers and gave them to a timber frame contractor in New Hampshire to test them out. In their August issue, they told their nearly 1-million readers that the Makita 18V Brushless Motor 3-Speed Impact Driver (BTD144) took the top prize with "the best mix of performance and features." The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Motor 3-Speed Impact Driver has a 3-speed power selection switch with soft, medium and hard impact settings. Released this month, the new LXDT01 is the successor to the BTD144 and delivers even more power with 1,460 in.lbs. of MaxTorque. The 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Speed Impact Driver has an adjustable setting for precise fastening power, making it ideal for everything from cabinet screws to lag bolts. And Makita brushless motor technology delivers 20% longer battery life per charge. For more, go here. To read This Old House Magazine's full review, go here.
